Old man seeks help As windstorm, heavy rains destroy his house

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, July 27, 2010
Masanneh Ceesay, an old man living in Kombo Kerewan village, a suburb of Lamin Village in the Western Region is seeking for assistance to reconstruct his house, which was recently hit by windstorm and heavy rains.

According to him, this disaster has rendered him and his family homeless. The old man was speaking to the Daily Observer yesterday at his residence in Kombo kerewan village. He explained that he lost many of his valuable assets like clothes, mattresses etc during this disaster. The old man told this reporter that they are currently lodging in an incomplete building in the neighbourhood, saying; "I as an old man have no other alternative but to transfer to that house", he lamented, looking strained and frustrated.

He then said he will greatly appreciate it if any individual, government institution or philanthropist can come to his aid. Anyone willing to help him can contact the Imam or the alkalo of Kombo Kerewan, the councillor of Lamin Ward or the Paramount Chief Alhaji Demba Sanyang. Ceesay himself can also be reached on the following numbers: 7774152, 6442654, 6948877, 9959210, 6868841 or 7128041.
