Africa » Gambia
Friday, July 16, 2010
The Operation No Back Way to Europe (ONBWE), an organisation working in the fight against illegal migration last Thursday cultivated five hectares of Nerica rice in Jarra Soma in the Lower River Region.

Speaking to this reporter about this development, Babucarr Jabbi, the chairman of ONBWE, said the five-hectare Nerica rice farm is part of their contribution towards food self-sufficiency. He called on other youth groups to venture in to such activities.Jabbi also thanked the vice president for issuing the seeds to them and the youths of LRR to support them in sewing the farm.Jabbi expressed optimism of having a bumper harvest from the farm.

He finally thanked the Taiwanese Technical Team, the ministry of Youth and Sports for their unflinching support and guidance since the start of this year's farming.
