‘Open Mic Festival’ to celebrate 4th anniversary 20 Gambian artists confirmed to perform

The hit monthly hood-to-hood street stage show, ‘Open Mic’ is set to celebrate its four years anniversary in a grand style on the 23rd of December 2011 at the Independence Stadium in Bakau. Claimed to be the Gambia’s biggest music night, ‘Open Mic Festival’ is now an annual event set to tap and bring to the fore, The Gambia’s unseen finest talents.

With over 20 artists confirmed to grace this year’s event organisers are of the view that 2011 celebration will be one of its kind in the history of the country. Some of the confirmed artist to perform are ; Humanity Band, Gee, Benjamin, Manding Morry, Bro K, Da Geez, Poetic X, E.N.C, Jali Madi, M.L.K, Tapha Artist, T-Smallz, Baddibunka, Balla Ranks, Karaa, Cyco, Mariam, Dro Kylah, Khadija and Tam 50, and their performances will fully be backed by the Holy Family Band.

Over the past four years, the Festival has been built from a state of non-existence and overcoming drawbacks into the biggest crowd pulling musical event in the country bigger ever than a lot of the shows featuring renowned international artists. With over ten thousand (10, 000) attendees turning up for last’s a year’s event held at the Independence Stadium in Bakau, this fourth anniversary celebration is anticipated to be even bigger and successful than the previous ones.

The underlying tones of the festival mainly seek to draw attention to our sense of feeling proudly Gambian and simply expressing our Gambian pride through music by staging a world-class event for all by us. Its’ widely anticipated by all and is growing bigger and bigger each year taking into accounts the number of artists that participate in the event.

Ticket sales for the event is D75 before 10pm and D100 after 10pm plus a free Youki drink and a free Africell Sim card, and T-shirts of the festival are officially out.
