Barely a week after his reappointment as the minister of the Interior, the president of the Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh has redeployed Ousman Sonko to the Foreign Services and appointed him as The Gambia’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain, a media release from State House revealed yesterday.

The release reads:

The general public is hereby informed that His Excellency the president of the Republic of The Gambia Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh, acting under the provisions of Sections 71(4)(b) of the Constitutionof the Republic of The Gambia, has decided to relieve Mr Ousma Sonko of his Cabinet appointment as Minister of Interior with immediate effect. Mr Ousman Sonko is being redeployed to the Foreign Services and now appointed as The Gambia’s ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.
