Yuvus Selim Schools, established by Turkey has over 60 schools across the globe.

On the eve of Tobaski distributed 29 cattle as sacrifice to over 1000 families within and around The Greater Banjul Area. Timber and Furniture Company have provided the logistic support in transporting the meat to different destinations.

The ultimate aim of the gesture is to help families who are less privileged to provide ram for themselves. The Cattle is worth over three hundred thousand dalasis (D300000).

In an interview with the Daily Observer, Arif Arikan, the representative of the Turkish Schools in West Africa, said the gesture was the first of its kind that the Turkish have given this kind of assistance to Gambians, adding that their institution gave similar assistance to many other African countries for many years. Mr  Arikan added that, from now on they will continue this kind of assistance during the month of Ramadan and tobaski.

Mr Arikan further highlighted that his institution is currently trying to establish a school in The Gambia, the work of which is at an advanced stage.

For his part, Ousman Tasbasi, the general manager of Timber Furniture Company has expressed his desire to continue supporting needy Gambians, adding that he will be more than willing to contribute to the welfare of the nation.

He however pointed out that Mr Selim's School is a reputable international school, adding that very soon The Gambia will have one that will give Gambians the opportunity to learn Turkish Language as the language is part of the school's curriculum (syllabus). Erol Gulbay, Assistant director, English teacher at Yuvus Salim School in Dakar also expressed similar sentiments.
