Pa Harry determined to adjudicate Babylon case

Africa » Gambia
Monday, May 11, 2009
Pa Harry Jammeh, the magistrate presiding over the protracted Babylon arson case, has expressed in strong terms, his determination to adjudicate the case by all means.

The presiding magistrate made this   remark yesterday, when another delay was necessitated by the indisposition of Antouman Gaye, defence counsel for the accused persons. The magistrate said that the case must be given due attention because the accused persons are still in Mile 2.
"The fate of the accused persons are at stake. They have a right to know their fate. They have been in remand for so long now without much progress on the case," he said.

The presiding magistrate urged the defence to be serious with the case in the interest of a fair, speedy and impartial despensation of justice. He then declared that the Babylon case will be heard before his court every Monday and Tuesday as part of efforts to fast track the protracted litigation.
The case continues today.
