Paramount chief predicts bumper harvestWednesday, August 01, 2012 The paramount chief of The Gambia, Alhaji Demba Sanyang has said that this year’s crop season will yield more harvest compared to the previous rainy seasons. The chief made this remark Monday during an interview with the Daily Observer at his residence. He said his expectation for this year is
high, as the people of his region have prepared and have been willing to put in
more effort than last year. He added that both men and women, together with the
youths, have already started working in their farms. The
paramount chief revealed that the youths have already cultivated a variety of
crops, ranging from water melon to corn, among others. He commended his people, particularly the youths, for their unreserved commitment to the initiatives geared towards complementing President Jammeh's efforts. He also thanked the governor of West Coast Region, who has been continuously mobilising the youths to ensure that the president's Vision 2020 will be achieved.
