Pirang infanticide case to go to High Court

africa » gambia » brikama
Tuesday, February 03, 2009
The murder case involving one Kumba Sowe of Pirang is to be transferred to the High Court by the Brikama Magistrates Court presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh.

Before this development, the case had suffered a series of adjournments as the prosecution kept on telling the court that the case file had been sent to the Attorney General's Chambers for legal advice.

Kumba was charged with murdering her two-year old boy by drowning him in the river. The incident was said to have occurred in Pirang. She, however, denied the allegation insisting that the death of the child was the will of God.
