Yankuba JN Sonko, the Inspector General of Police has expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Gambian leader for his recent donation of five pickups and four trucks to the Gambia Police Force.

In a letter addressed to His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, the police chief assured that under his leadership, the police force will continue to give its utmost best to the leadership, the government and people of The Gambia.

The letter reads: 

I wish on behalf of the management, staff and on my own behalf to extend my heartfelt appreciation on His Excellency the president of the republic of The Gambia Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh for his recent donation of five pickups and four trucks to the Gambia Police Force.

This recent donation of vehicles like many others does not come to us as a surprise because time and time again he has responded to the needs of the Armed and the Security Services without hesitation.It is noted that a greater majority of the assistance and support he rendered to the Armed and Security Services particularly the Gambia Police Force are not prompted by request; they were rather based on his magnanimity, generosity and foresightedness.This indeed speaks volumes of his qualities as a leader.

The Gambia Police Force under my leadership will therefore continue to give its utmost best to His Excellency the President and the government of the Gambia. I wish to assure His Excellency the President of the Republic of The Gambia and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces that the nine vehicles donated to the Gambia Police Force will bust the mobility needs of the force and undoubtedly enhance its service delivery to The Gambian populace.

Furthermore, I will assure His Excellency that the aforementioned vehicles will be properly handed and maintained and, they will be used for the purpose on which they are given.My management has of recent established a policy implementation and Inspectorate Units whose roles amongst others is to ensure that all the police installations and materials including vehicles are properly accounted for and maintained.

In conclusion, I wish on behalf of the management and staff of The Gambia Police Force to thank His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces for the unflinching support he has been rendering to the Police Force.I pray to Almighty Allah for him to continue to bless him with abundance of health prosperity and guidance. Please accept Sir the assurance of my highest appreciation and esteem.
