Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, August 26, 2009
The ongoing attempted felony case involving two men: Demba  Ceesay and Ali Kah, on Tuesday, resumed at the Kanifing Magistrates court as Inspector Fadera called his prosecution witness.

Testifing before Magistrate Mbake, Bakary Gibba, a police officer attached to the Serrekunda Police Station, informed the court that on the 8th of August 2009, while he was sitting in his office, he received a telephone call from an informant that there were some people at Duniya Motel in Serrekunda who were involved in drug trafficking. According to him, he and one Sergeant Musa Jammeh went to the said motel and then moved into a room where the accused persons were. He further told the court that when he knocked on the door, the accused persons opened it for them to enter.

He stated that in the room, they found the accused persons with a small bottle containing mercury and then arrested them. According to him, when they were taken to the Serrekunda Police Station, a thorough search was conducted on them and US$4000 was found on Demba Ceesay. He added that the case was later handed over to the CID for further investigation.
