As part of his working visit to the Republic of Angola, The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Yahya Jammeh, Sunday paid homage to the first and late Angolan president, António Agostinho Neto, by laying a wreath by his monument at Luanda's “Independence” Square, according to Angolan Press Agency.

“The visiting president is accompaniedby ministers,” according to the APA, stating: “His agenda included a meeting with the president José Eduardo dos Santos, officials talks and a visit to the newly built Kilamba city, in Belas municipality, Luanda.”

Meanwhile, the Gambian leader according to the Agency had earlier arrived in the afternoon on Sunday in Luanda, a visit it said aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The Gambian leader, the Agency added was received at the ‘International Airport February 4th’ by the Foreign minister of Angola, Georges Chikoti. ”In front of the airport, a large number of Gambians living in Angola, focused, singing songs in welcoming Sheikh Professor Alhaji Yahya Jammeh,” the Angolan Press Agency added.
