Proud to be a Gambian

I went out thinking I knew who I was and what my views on life were, but this experience completely changed me. I look at the world differently. My priorities completely changed and the whole experience is such an adventure.

One thing I am always proud of is being born a Gambian. Being a Gambian means a lot to anyone who has traveled wide or is abreast of world affairs. When you talk to people who have lived in The Gambia, their first statement is "what a peaceful nation". Gambians are known to be one family. Gambians respect and value human life. They believe in sharing and are sympathizers. Gambians are fit in any nation that values human life and has respect for the law. We are role models in any nation we find ourselves in.

Let us teach the world that we are small but we are big in many ways. If there is any other country I love, it is the United Kingdom. It is a country that accommodates different nationalities but as long as you stay away from trouble, life is easy for you. Their police officers are willing to serve anyone who lives and abides by the laws of their nation. No fear in this because we Gambians here fit well in the society.

There is a saying that the things you do live after you. I urge Gambians, wherever we find ourselves, let us live the way we are known to. Crime does not pay and you can't get more than what is yours. You reap what you sow.
