Africa » Gambia
Monday, October 19, 2009
As part of their 'back to school' initiative, Qcell, Gambia's newest GSM operator on, Wednesday, organised Qlesson at Marina International School in Bakau. Qlesson basically aims at teaching students on the company's and their usage or mode of operation.

In his opening remarks, Lamin Fatty, Customer Care manager, Qcell, said they came up with Qlesson simply because when schools were about to open, parents and students came in their office and asked them about the third-generation (3G) system and other added facilities and their usage. He said the 3G is the first of its kind in sub-Sahara Africa and that only South Africa and The Gambia has the facilities in the continent. "We told the students to go back to their schools and settle, we will go and teach them on how to use the technology and some of our other services, which include: Qwap, Qalert,Qweb, Qchat, Video Calls, Qmms and Qtunes," he highlighted.

For his part, Muhammed Jah, CEO and managing director, Qcell, advised the students to motivate themselves since they have the opportunity to attend the best school in the country and to decide now what they want to do in future. He informed them that it took him twelve years to achieve what he has today. Jah further advised them to be discipline, search  for knowledge and be respectful so that they can be somebody in future. "I build Qcell with displine, determanition and hard work,"he said. Amie Sise, Marketing officer, who also doubles as Media Relation officer, made similar sentiment.
