Qcell unveils new services, promotions

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, September 02, 2010
Qcell has again unveiled new services and promotions that would be of great use to its subscribers. The new services include E-Fankanta Credit Advance Service, Bonus Promotion, Data Card Koriteh Promotion among a host of others.

Speaking at a press conference at the Qcell Building along Kairaba Avenue yesterday, Muhammed Jah, the CEO of Qcell said the occasion was their third press conference since they commenced operations in July 2009. He recalled that the first press conference was on the launching of the Qcell Sunu Buss instant roaming SIM card. "With the Qcell Sunu Buss instant roaming SIM card, subscribers can roam in almost every country in the world and the Qcell instant roaming SIM card is the only SIM card in The Gambia to guaranty that you can talk wherever you are around the world. The second press conference was the launching of the Qcell Muslim phone. This also broke a record in The Gambia and indeed in Africa as being the first Muslim phone launched. It is still one of the hottest selling phones in The Gambia. It is a coloured screen phone with up to one-week battery life which allows you to activate the five daily prayer alarm system," he explained.

"You will agree with me that anytime a record is broken, especially a record which will positively affect the lives of people, it will be worthwhile to recognise and celebrate the event of the record breaking. This is good, because it will set a new challenge for the rest to try to break the record and that is what brings about development. It creates ambition for the young and growing and increases the quality of life for our people," he added.

Jah declared that the idea of bringing to The Gambia the highest and the best in telecommunications technology is their goal. "Nothing short of the best would do. We are aiming to place ourselves as industry standards in The Gambia and as such, our goals and challenges are very high," he added.

Credit Advance E-Fankanta
This service allows a loyal customer to loan credit from Qcell anywhere the person is and at any time of the day or night. If the customer has a balance of D2.00 or lower he/she can use this service by sending *118# and the account would instantly be credited with a maximum credit advance of D10.00. A service fee of D1.00 applies.

Jah explained that the conditions attached to this service are that the subscriber must be on the Qcell network for at least four months. Subscribers are required to pay back on their next recharge, and can request for the service on a daily basis as long as previous balance is paid

Bonus Promotion
For the first time in The Gambia, Jah went on, subscribers can now use their Qcell bonus not only for voice and SMS but also DATA, adding that this service gives flexibility to customers in the way their bonus credit is used with no limitations on the services they offer (Voice, SMS & Data). He pointed out that the promotion saves customers money in the sense that they get value for the money they spend.

Data Card Koriteh Promotion
The Qcell CEO further informed the gathering that customers can now purchase a Qcell data card at a discounted cost of only D3, 500 which is 50% off its original price of D7000. Alongside this product discount, prepaid users who recharged the D300 scratch card can enjoy free nightly browsing (10pm-6am) for 30 days. He adduced that post-paid data card users can still enjoy the double Giga Bytes promotion.

Cheapest tariff to Senegal
Concerning tariffs on calls to Senegal, Jah said: "Since the new regulation came into effect for an increase in per minute charges to Senegal, all operators have complied but most important to our subscribers are that; we are offering the cheapest rate to Senegal in this country at D13. 75per minute."

Prepaid Roaming
According to Muhammed Jah, with the Prepaid Instant Roaming SIM Card, customers can roam anywhere in the world with Qcell line.

Other services
Jah also recalled that Qcell had in the past introduced some services like the Qcell Video Call, Qcell MMS, Wchat, Qtunes, QAlert, Qwap, and QCell's CUG services. He therefore called on Gambians to subscribe to the Qcell family. He used the occasion to thank all the stakeholders of a very important industry starting from the government of The Gambia through the president of the Republic and his entire cabinet for gracing the launching of Qcell Limited on the 24th of July 2010.

He also thanked his staff for their dedication and commitment to the vision of building and maintaining the best and cheapest GSM Network in The Gambia, whilst thanking their loyal subscribers for their steadfastness.
