Qcell wins Kerewan Super Cup

Tuesday, July 27, 2010
Qcell FC emerged winners of Kombo Kerewan Super Cup trophy after coming from two-goal down to beat Freetown FC 4-3 in the final on Sunday.

A brace from striker Joseph Jatta gave Freetown a comfortable 2-0 lead in the first interval. But it took a moment of brilliance from Qcell's Dawda Colley to cancel out the two-goal deficit before Aliew Badjie sealed the tie with a fascinating winner in the stoppage time. Mansour Colley, the head coach of Qcell FC said he was satisfied with the outcome of the game, noting that coming from behind to win a game is always special. Sami Estate gives to Kerewan FC.

In a separate development, Sami Estate, has donated a sum of D15, 000 to a Kerewan football team that have renamed themselves after the estate developers. Handing over the cheque to the team officials, Alpha Cham, an official of Sami Estate said the gesture is part of the institution’s social responsibility to the community.

He urged the beneficiary team to make a good use of the fund, while wishing all best of luck in their nawettan competition. Receiving the cheaque, Tapha Manneh, the Kerewan team adviser said this was not the first time that Sami Estate has come to the aid of the team, adding that the team received the sum of D10, 000 from the same company last year. He thanked them for the gesture, while promising that "the money will be judiciously spent".
