One Buba Njie of Tanji was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh of the Brikama Magistrates Court for attemting to rape a 9-year old girl (name withheld).

According to the facts of the case, the accused in November last year gave the child D5 to buy a loaf of bread for him. When the girl return, the accused attempted to have carnal knowledge of her. When the charge was read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty to the charge.
