The Gambia Armed Forces have announced the commencement of a general recruitment for the year 2009/2010. This was revealed in a press release from GAF and signed by the PRO, Second Lieutenant OB Bojang.

According to the press release, application   forms can be collected from GAF headquarters and various military posts within the country. The deadline for the submission of applications, according to the release, is Wednesday, 21 January 2009.

"Successful applicants will be short listed, and the list will be available for public viewing on Tuesday, 27 January 2009 at Guards Battalion, Fajara Barracks, Naval Fleet, Banjul Ferry Terminal, Navy, Farafenni Barracks, Basse military post," the release stated.

The release added that "all successful applicants within the Greater Banjul Area, Kombos and the Fonis, should report to the Gambia Armed Forces Training School in Fajara with their original documents for selection on Thursday 29th January 2009 and those within Lower River Region, North Bank Region and Central River Region should report to Farafenni Barracks on Tuesday 3rd February 2009 for selection with their original documents whilst those in Upper River Region should report to Basse military post, on

Thursday 5th February 2009, with their original documents for selection." The release finally warned applicants to avoid duplication of application forms as photocopied application forms would not be accepted. "Every application form must carry an original stamp and signature," it ended.
