One of Senegal’s rising mbalax sensations, who is widely credited as the one who created and first introduced a hit popular dance called ‘Youza’ -Magaye Seck, is currently in the Gambia for what promises to be music electrifying project.

A former percussionist and Sabarr player with the famous Senegalese mbalax diva-Coumba Gawlo Seck, this sprouting Senegalese star now has his own group-‘African Sabarr’. Having toured the Smiling Coast of Africa on a number of musical extravaganzas’ while under Coumba Gawlo’s group, Magaye is optimistic that his music will surely take root in the country when the time comes.

The star who recently dropped his six-track debut album entitled ‘Ambiance’ in Senegal, is currently making waves in most Senegalese cities. Superbly crafted at studio renaissance in Rufisque -Dakar, some of the tracks in this latest album, preach about social harmony, and the need for people to come together especially those in the same neighbourhoods.

In an interview with What’s On, at his based in Bijilo Hotel, Seck recalled that he started music at a tender age.He described Senegal and the Gambia as people of the same culture positing that mbalax fans in the country must have heard his music but don’t actually know him physically.

Taking into account the tide competition in the music market especially his native Senegal, Seck believes that uniqueness and versatility is the only answer to attract more fans base.s “Though, many people might hear from music but don’t actually know me physically. But I am sure if my music takes root in the country, mbalax enthusiasts will forever appreciate it. It has been my dream to promote my music in the country but at the moment I want to make contacts first. I am also working on a piece that is dedicated to the people of the Gambia. But right now I cannot perform here because I didn’t make contacts yet,” he said.

Having toured extensively in a bid to promote his music, Seck over the years also represented his country at a mega festival held in Istanbul Turkey and also held series of concerts in France. He then used the opportunity to extend sincere greetings to all music lovers in the Gambia, including the Gambian leader for his constant support to Gambian musicians and music in general.
