Monday, March 15, 2010
Rity L is a young sprouting Gambian reggae dancehal star currently struggling hard to reach international stardom.

Born and raised in The Gambia, he was  influenced into music by renowned Jamaican stars like Don Campbell, Buju Banton and Lionel Richie. Besides, his father being a deejay later inspired the budding star to develop keen interest in music. This young talented song writer cum singer and rapper now performs at various venues in the UK. Rity L as he is widely known, started performing at a young age,  to be precise at a time when he was going to primary school, where his fellow students would drum the tables as he sang.

In 1997, he formed a group  called Da Hachu Bii Crew with two  Senegalese boys, BG and Tafbi Police. The Da Hachu Bii Crew produced rap songs in English and their native languages, Wolof and Madinka.

After BG and Tafbi Police returned  back to Senegal in 2000, Rity L  joined Da Half Die Clan. This group consists of seven rappers who all came from the Half Die neighbourhood  in Banjul. The group produced the popular hit song “Africa” in 2005 with Amie Cherry formely of Pencha Bii Crew.

In 2004, Rity L turned solo, and he wrote and produced hits  songs such as ‘Gambian Girls’, ‘RITY L and When You Say Goodbye’ (watch the videos on You Tube). He also performed a number of live gigs and supported a variety of big stars including the Senegalese king of mbalax -Youssou N’dour and Titi at The Gambian Independence Stadium.

After a brief break in music, Rity L moved to the UK in 2008 and produced two new songs namely ‘Can’t You Feel It” and “I Will Always Be” with Play Studio in London .
