Thursday, July 19, 2012

The senior management of the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital (RVTH) on Tuesday received surgical items and other hospital materials from Abdoulie Samateh and his colleagues from Eastbourne District General Hospital in the United Kingdom.

Speaking on behalf of the donors, Fatou Samateh, a sister to Abdoulie stated that the surgical items were collected from Eastbourne Hospital to assist the Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital. She assured them that they will continue to bring items to RVTH.

On receiving the donation, Professor Ousman Nyan, the chief medical director of RVTH, said the items donated will go a long way in addressing the needs of the hospital particularly the surgical department. He thanked them for the gesture and called on other Gambians in the diaspora to emulate the efforts of Abdoulie and colleagues in the United Kingdom to help the RVTH.

For her part, Fatou Nyabally, the chairperson of RVTH Donation Committee, also thanked the donors and assured them that the donated items will be put to good use. Dr Amadou Samateh of RVTH Surgical department also expressed similar sentiments.
