Thursday, August 20, 2009
A two-month Junior Achievement Project (JAP) training, organized by Saamasang Federation in collaboration with Business Communities, Saamasang Youth and Children Development Association and the Child Fund-The Gambia, recently kicked off at the Women's Federation Center in Brikama.

In his opening remarks, Amadou Tambedou, the Child and Youth officer of the federation, told the participants that the main aim of the training is to enhance vibrant youth entrepreneurs and improving employment opportunities for the youth of Kombo Central District.

Tambedou further told the gathering that the target groups are the newly graduated students, those who are unable to complete their schooling, or unemployed youths within Saamasang Federation. He said from February - June this year, a total of twelve youths benefited from such trainings, whilst in July 2009 to June 2010, a total of forty youths, twenty of have already started on 30th July 2009 and that the next training will commence in January 2010.

Tambedou tasked the youths to be committed to the training and always take the lead in national development as they are the future leaders of the country. He challenged the youth to adopt good manners and serve as role models in society, noting that there will be no development without the full participation of the  youth.

He finally informed the participants that Saamasang Federation is proud to be associated with them due to the dedication and good leadership that they manifested. He assured them of his continued support saying: "I will always stand for you in the name of my federation".

Some of the participants who shared their views with the Daily Observer promised to be committed and to participate fully during the training saying that it is a golden opportunity for them to attend such an important training that would help them a lot in their endeavor.
