SAC basketball camp wraps up

Monday, August 24, 2009
A five-day basketball camp organized by the Scholar Athlete for Change (SAC) for over 80 school-going children ended on Thursday, at the Independence Stadium, Bakau.

The five-day event saw the participants deliberate on the importance of sports and exercise in our everyday live. Addressing the interns at the closing ceremony, Pierre Jallow, a professional basketballer who doubles as founder of SAC, advised the children to use the opportunities available through sports to reach their goals. He was however quick to add that the children should not neglect their academic career at the expenses of sports.

Jallow, who currently plays professional basketball in Finland, counted himself lucky, having enjoyed a full scholarship which was a result of different academics and sports scholarship and he believes that his Gambian brothers to follow the same part excel in both sports and academic.
