Sang Ndong retains SK West committee chairmanship

Africa » Gambia
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Sang Ndong has retained his position as the chairman of the Serrekunda West Sports Committee after being re-elected to steer the affairs of the zone for a four-year tenure.

The Banjul Hawks United head coach was drafted in to head an interim committee that replaced Pa Sulay Jobe-led committee that was forced to resign last summer. After the elapse of its [interim committee] one-year term, the Serrekunda teams converged on Saturday to elect a new  committee at a gathering held at the Kanifing Municipal Council offices.

The day-long election, which was marred by intense debates, saw the former Scorpions coach retain his chairmanship role. Coach Bonu Johnson, who recently led the Gambia Ports Authority FC?to a promotion to the premier tier of Gambian football and Sheikh Tijan Sylva were also retained as the first and second vice presidents respectively.

Other members of the new committee are Pa Omar Touray (secretary general), Ya Saye Sosseh (assistant secretary general), Jee Colley (treasurer), Fatoumatta Balajo (assistant treasurer) and Alagie Drammeh (auditor). Ndeneh Nyan, Alfred Njie, Omar Colley, John Kocori and Lamin Sanyany were also named in the new committee as programme officers for the various sporting disciplines including football, basketball, volleyball, athletics and wrestling.
