Amadou Sanyang, Emmanuel Gomez, Stefan Frei and Nana Attakora are the candidates for the Esquire Player of the Month award for the month of  August.

The winner will be presented with an Esquire watch before the  kick-off at Toronto FC's match against Colorado Rapids at BMO Field on Saturday. Amadou Sanyang turned 18 on August 1 and made his Toronto FC debut as a substitute on the same day in the 1-1 tie at New England Revolution. Sanyang was handed his first start in the 2-0 win at home to D.C. United on August 15 and impressed with his tenacious performance. He showed experience far beyond his age when he man-marked Swedish superstar Freddie Ljungberg in the 0-0 draw in Seattle on August 29.

Emmanuel Gomez made his first MLS start for Toronto FC in the 2-0 win over D.C. United on August 15 and played a key role in the center of defence as the Reds secured a fourth clean sheet of the season. The young Gambian produced another strong performance in the heart of the defence as Toronto drew 0-0 against Seattle Sounders on August 29. The 18 year old has shown he is fearless and has lots of potential.
