Sare Alpha flood victims assisted

The Gambia Emergency Agricultural Production Project (GEAPP) under the African Locust Project (AELP) at the ministry of Agriculture, recently donated 20 bags of fertilizers to the last year's flood victims in Sare Alpha village, Tumana District in the Upper River Region (URR).The presentation was held at the Governor's residence in Basse.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Alhaji Omar Khan, the regional governor, thanked GEAPP for the timely intervention and called on the beneficiaries to make best use of the gesture. Sheikh Tijan Sosseh, the national coordinator of GEAPP, spoke of his organisation's commitment in the welfare of the people particularly at the grassroot level. This programme, he said is set up to help needy farmers in the rural communities and called on the beneficiaries to make good use of the items.

Mbemba Dahaba, the regional agricultural director in URR, commended the Gambian leader for improving agriculture in this country and urged the beneficiaries to use the items for its intended purpose.The Alkalo of Sare Alpha village, Bambo Susso, thanked the GEAPP and the Ministry of Agriculture for the gesture and assured them that, the items will be put to good use.
