As the Muslim Ummah observes Maulud Nabi commonly known as Gamou today, the Presidency yesterday declared Saturday, 27th February 2010 as a public holiday throughout The Gambia.

The dispatch issued yesterday from State House reads: His Excellency the president of the Republic of The Gambia, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, GMRG, FAAIL, is pleased to declare Saturday 27th February 2010 as a public holiday throughout The Gambia in observance of Mawlud Nabi locally known Gamo. His Excellency the president would like to wish all Gambians a blessed Mawlud Nabi.
