A three-week training on fire safety management for 300 staff of Senegambia Beach Hotel recently came to an end at a ceremony held at the hotel's premises in Kololi.

The aim of the training was to help the staff to be in a good position to tackle fire outbreaks. In his closing remarks, Francis Gomez, the human resource manager, emphasised the significance of the training. He disclosed that Senegambia hotel has one of the best safety records in the world.

According to him, the London Brigade reports that 800,000 fires occur every year, resulting in 800 deaths with over 100,000 injuries. He added that 50,000 of these fire outbreaks are preventable. He also made it clear that most of these fire outbreaks occur in our homes.

For his part, the director general, Juergen Odenwald, highlighted that training on fire safety is relevant as everybody wants to be secured. "We do everything for safety reasons ranging from health to fire preventions," he said.

Captain Jatta commanding officer, Tourist Security Unit, also spoke on the importance of fire training. He commended the trainees for their dedication and implored them to extend the knowledge to others.
