Scorpions entertain zonal selection in charity match

africa » gambia
Wednesday, December 24, 2008
A selection from the four zonal teams that reach the semi-final of Muhammed Yahya Jammeh Perpetual Zonal Championships will today take on the Gambia Scorpions in a friendly encounter meant to raise fund for the Gambia Football Association.

Dubbed a charity match, the tie will be played at the Serrekunda East Mini-stadium this evening, instead of the previously announced venue of the Independence Stadium. The friendly will feature the Gambia professional players most of whom are presently in country for a season break.

Mafugi Jatta, chairman of this year's Zonal Organising Committee told Observer Sports that they decided to shift the match venue from the Independence Stadium to Serrekunda East Mini-stadium simply because of accessibility.

He called on sports enthusiasts in Serrekunda and it's surrounding to come and add flavour to the match. The Scorpions are billed to have similar friendly match against the Gambia Under 17 team at the Brikama Mini-stadium on Friday.
