Scot Gam donates to Armitage SSSThursday, June 11, 2009 Scot Gam Foundation, a charitable foundation whose aim is to contribute immensely towards the development of the health and education sectors in the country, last Sunday, presented a video camera, a projector and accessories to Armitage Senior Secondary School in Janjangbureh, Central River Region (CRR). The presentation ceremony, graced by Hon. Sainey Mbaye, National Assembly member for Upper Saloum and members of the Armitage Ex-Students' Association, was held at the office of the Governor of Central River Region, Alhagie Ganyie Touray. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Governor Touray expressed delight at Scot Gam's contribution towards the development of Armitage. He described Scot Gam's intervention as a move towards complementing government's efforts in the development of Armitage. The CRR governor thanked Scot Gam through Pa Faye, the coordinator, for choosing to support Armitage SSS and for all their support to other institutions in his region over the past years. Receiving the items, David Haffner, Principal of Armitage SSS, described the presentation as a wonderful gesture, aimed at enhanching learning in his school. He advised the students to make the best use of the donated items and expressed hope that their cooperation with Scot Gam will grow from strength to strength. David Haffner finally thanked Mr Pa Faye, the coordinator of Scot Gam and the donors back in Scotland for their timely intervention. For his part, Pa Faye, coordinator of Scot Gam, expressed delight at handing over the items to Armitage SSS, on behalf of his organisation (Scot Gam) and the donors, Paul and Carol Thorn, Scottish couple from Scotland. According to Faye, the aim of the organisation is to complement government's efforts in the areas of health and education. He described the Scottish couple (Paul and Carol Thorn) as genuine friends of The Gambia who have been donating materials to various institutions in the country. "This time, we choose Armitage SSS, hence it is the oldest boarding school in the country with an active Ex-Students' Association," Mr Faye remarked. He expressed optimism that his organisation and Armitage will continue to collaborate and support the students of the school. Assan Sallah, Public Relations officer of the Armitage Ex-Students' Association, on behalf of his colleagues, thanked Scot Gam through Pa Faye, the coordinator for the benevolent gesture given to Armitage. Sallah further thanked the donors for complementing government's efforts in the development of Armitage and expressed hope that others will emulate Scot Gam.
