Security officer testifies in attempted felony case

One Omar Touray, a security officer at old Jeswang health centre on Monday, testified before senior magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of Kanifing magistrate as the first prosecution witness in a trial involving one Ebrima Sey.

In his testimony, Omar Touray told the court that on the 5th of July 2009, while he was at his guard post at old Jeswang health centre the accuses Ebrima Sey came and unlawfully entered one of the rooms of the said health centre and switch off all the lights, went to the drawer where he collected the keys and put them in his pocket.  He narrated that he held the accused and forcefully took him out of the health centre room.

Omar added that, the accused came back and opened the refrigerator and attempted to take some bottles from the chamber.  He stated that he then held Mr Sey's hand but he resisted. He further informed the court that he went to informed his senior officers who came and advised him to report the matter to the estate police station where his statement was recorded. Police prosecutor Gomez stood for the IGP.
