Senegalese education minister meets VP

Professor Kalidou Diallo, the Senegalese minister of national education, yesterday, called on Aja Dr Isatou Njie-Saidy, vice president and minister of Women's Affairs at her office at State House.
The Senegalese education minister, who was accompanied by a high powered delegation, was led to State House by High Commissioner Omar Faal, the head of the Senegalese High Commission in The Gambia. Shortly after their audience with the vice president, Professor Diallo told journalists that he was at State House to convey to the vice president President Wade's decision to take up thee responsibilities for the Senegalese school in The Gambia.
He said his government's decision is premised on the desire to improve on the school's managerial condition. According to him, the school has been faced with a lot of challenges and difficulties over the last years. He said his government has developed a proposal to establish more schools in The Gambia, where students will learn both French and English.
Minister Diallo further told journalists that many people of different nationalities attend the school, some of whom are Gambians. The Senegalese education minister used the opportunity to thank President Jammeh and the government of The Gambia for the cordial relationship between the two countries, citing the recent decoration of the Senegalese high commissioner as an example.
