SHAGF adopts Salifu K. Jaiteh as 'father'

Africa » Gambia
Friday, July 17, 2009
Speech in our Hands Gambia Foundation, last Thursday, adopted Salifu K. Jaiteh as honourable father of their organisation in a ceremony held in his office in Banjul, Albert Market.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lamin Jarjue, founder and executive director of Speech in our Hands Gambia Foundation, said his organisation is a non-profit charitable organisation working to help those who stammer.  He noted that the ultimate aim of the organisation is to help and improve speech difficulties faced by stammerers.

According to Jarjue, since there is no cure for stammering, they offer  therapy for  stammerer as well as  advice  free of charge free. This helps them improve their speech.  He added that they believe it will bring hope to people who had never thought that they will have such help or that they will ever speak fluently in their lives.

He expressed optimism in their honourable father whom he described as role model and patriotic citizen of the country. Mr Jarjue further expressed confidence in their honourable father that he will step in the foot of a father and that his guidance and support towards the organisation will no doubt boost the moral of the oganisastion. He called on government, philantropists, individuals, parastatals to come to their aid.

For his part, Salifu K. Jaiteh, managing director and proprietor of Salifu K. Jaiteh and Sons Ltd, said: "I thank God and my parents for the fortune they have given me and I have accepted it in good faith and yes I have accepted to lead your organisation as a father and will do my best to lead you in the best of my ability".  He called on others to emulate the youths in their professions.

He advised the organisation to be under one umbrella and to work for a better tomorrow. Jaiteh finally thanked the organisation for adopting him as father before receiving a certificate of appreciation.
