Sidi Jarju, Nyada Baldeh removed

Africa » Gambia
Thursday, June 04, 2009

Reliable reports reaching the Daily Observer reveals that Sidi Jarju, permanent secretary at the Department of State for Agriculture, and Nyada Baldeh, permanent secretary at the Department of State for Forestry and the Environment have gotten their services with The Gambia Government terminated with immediate effect.

Sources further hinted this paper that Sidi Jarju received his termination letter last Wednesday whilst Nyada Baldeh received his marching orders on Tuesday. When contacted to shed light on the developments, Sidi Jarju confirmed his termination, saying "yes it is true.  I received the letter on Wednesday."

Further asked as to who replaces him and what the reason for his sacking was, Jarju said: "These details can be picked up from the PMO." Also contacted on the same issue, Nyada Baldeh said: "Yes it is true.  I received the letter  a day before yesterday, from the PMO but no reason was stated in my letter."  The Agriculture department which has since been transferred to the Office of the President, remains a key priority area for this government.
