Gambian reggae dancehall star- Singateh, recently staged a spectacular performance in the Finnish autonomous Swedish-speaking region of Aland.

Singateh who performed at the island's most historic pub, Bastun, according reports, though interrupted by heavy downpour was a superb musical electrifying showpiece. With a string of hit singles, nominations and awards to his credit, his Åland performance is expected to attract lots of reggae lovers on the island and also Gambians living in neighboring Sweden.

Singateh, also known as Freaky Joe, is currently on a European tour after releasing his latest album, Mansay Kay. He has already performed in Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Switzerland and the next on his list is Åland (Finland). "Last summer I was in Helsinki and it was my first performance in Finland. Now it's Åland's turn and I'm looking forward to it" said the Gambian reggae sensation.

Meanwhile, the organiser, Alieu Khan described Singateh as Gambia's most successful reggae dancehall artist. "His music is widely loved and Åland is eagerly waiting to experience his style of reggae, which is influenced by Senegambian beats. I like Gambian musicians who are original and that makes it easy for us to market their music abroad," Alieu added.
