Wednesday, August 19, 2009
A four-day coaching training course involving the members of the Gambia Softball Association ended on Tuesday, at the Marina International School, Bakau.

The training, which was organised by the national softball body in collaboration with Olympic Committee of Japan, was meant to expose local softball administrators to the basic skills of the game that is struggling to find a right footing in world of sports.

David Haffner, secretary general of the Gambia Softball Association, said the training, which was the third of its kind, was a success. He hailed the Japanese  coaches who were available to take the participants through to the basic coaching skills.

Telsuo Nakayama, coordinator of Japanese Olympic Committee, who also served as a trainer, said the training is part of their effort to expand softball in the country. He expressed his delight at what he described as the participants' willingness embrace new ideas in order to make a difference.
