Monday, March 08, 2010
Terrick Bright (son) and his mother, Christiana Nobi, were on Friday, March 5th arraigned before Justice Moses Richards of Special Criminal Court in Banjul, on criminal charges of murder and accessory after the fact of murder contrary to Section 187 and 202 of the Criminal Code cap 10, volume 3 laws of The Gambia.

Terrick Bright, the first accused, is alleged to have unlawfully caused the death of one Aminata Bah by hitting her on the neck and sealing her mouth with a cello tape, on the 16th of September 2009 at Latrikunda German, knowing that death is the probable consequence of such act.

Christaina Nobi, the second accused and mother to the first accused, is alleged to have assisted her son to dispose the corpse of the said Aminata Jallow on the 16th of September 2009 at Latrikunda German. They pleaded not guilty to the charge and Justice Richards informed the court about the existence of a bail application before the court, noting that the offence charged is a capital offence.

Lawyer Uzome Achigbue told the court that it is premature for the court to handle the bail application for the second accused. The matter is adjourned to 23rd of March 2010.
