Songster Benjamin eyes music stardom

Africa » Gambia
Friday, July 20, 2012

Reggae dancehall star-Benjamin, no doubt is one of the finest Gambian stars on the rise, according to reports reaching What’s On. Born Kawsu Ceesay, this sprouting star’s musical career began since childhood. It was not a coincidence that he found himself in the centre of a Dancehall loving town-Brikama, which is home to some of the country’s finest talents like-Rebellion D’ Recaller, Hurricane, and you name it.

He became a music lover from a very young age and spent most of his time watching reggae music videos and listening to dancehall music. This later motivated him and gave him the feeling, thus paving the way to develop more interest in music. But it was not until he turned 13, and moved to Brikama otherwise called ‘Sateba’ when he realised his hidden talents and destiny.

It was Hurricane his brother who was a great source of inspiration to him as he often gave Benjamin the opportunity to prove his talent to music enthusiasts on stage. From then, the youngster took a giant step towards his dreams. This naturally talented young Gambian musician can hopefully achieve stardom if given the necessary financial and promotional support. “I am called by the music and I have no option but to answer. Music is in my life,” Benjamin said in one of his interviews.

Benjaminas as he is widely known has been featured in a number of collabo joints, in most of which he tops the chart with his melodious songs. He is also a recording artist with the Block Ent. He also dropped a track on the ‘Guidance Riddim’,which has been released by the label as well as on ‘The Answering Riddim’ too that will be coming out soon. Watch out for this inspirational star on the rise.
