Special Q'uranic recitation for July 22nd anniversary

The office of the Imam Ratib of Banjul, in collaboration with the committee of Banjul Muslim Elders will on Sunday, July 19th, 2009, convene an annual Q'uranic recitation at the Independence Drive Mosque in Banjul as part of activities marking the 15th anniversary of the July 22 celebration.

According to a press release issued by the office of the Imam Ratib, the day long recitation is meant seek Almighty Allah's blessings for a successful rainy season. The objective of the worship, according to the release, is also to invoke Allah's blessings for the president of The Republic of The Gambia, His Excellency, Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh and the nation at large, and to ensure a successful outcome of the event.

The organisers used the opportunity to extend an invitation to the general public to this special event.
