SSHFC gives to RVTHFriday, September 21, 2012 The Social Security and Housing Finance Corporation (SSHFC) Tuesday donated a new desktop and a laptop worth D80, 000 to the Labour Department at a presentation ceremony held at the SSHFC office in Banjul. In a brief interview with the Daily Observer shortly after the presentation, a senior public relations manager at SSHFC, Ebrima K.S. Dampha, said the Corporation had received a request from the acting commissioner of Labour Department, Nyallo Barrow, requesting for computers and accessories, which he said was approved considering the importance of the machine to the department. “We feel that we are in the position to do it and should do it particularly when a request comes from a partnering institution,” he stated, while using the opportunity to explain that the SSHFC’s Industrial Injuries Compensation Fund, that purchased the items, is a scheme designed for people that sustained injury while performing their duties on the job. “As long as they are wounded on the job SSHFC would take care of them,” he remarked. The managing director of SSHFC, Edward Graham, handed over the items to the acting commissioner Barrow. For his part, Barrow commended the benefactor for the donation.
