Stalwart grabs silver at ‘Global Africa Music Award’

A rising Gambian dancehall genius-Stalwart, was recently awarded a silver medal at the ‘Global African Music Awards’. The award was held last November in Malaysia and United States of America and it is part of the ‘Bite My Music Global Awards’ series.


Born Yankuba Dibba, the rising star was initially nominated in three categories namely ‘Best African Reggae Artist’, ‘Best Dancehall Artist of the Year’ as well as the ‘Best African Male artist of the Year’ and eventually emerged with silver for the ‘Best Reggae Artist’ category, alongside with three other reggae artists.


In an interview with What’s On, Stalwart explained that the judges included some of the world renowned celebrities and that 30% of the voting was done through online voting. He added that the organizers of the award also promise to facilitate international exposure for all artist awarded as well as to avail them the opportunity to do mega collaborations with different international stars.


“The artists awarded will also be signed by the Record label to further promote their stuffs worldwide. I feel honored and glad that my work is recognized internationally. Being the only Gambian and first artist to be put in this international contest is a landmark achievement,’ Stalwart stated. He then used the opportunity to call on his fellow artists to endeavor to target the international market and share views with diverse people.
