State files charges against suspected armed robbers

The Attorney General Chambers and Ministry of  Justice has filed in criminal charges against three accused persons: Babou Jobe,  Modou Lamin Ceesay and Saikou Darboe at the Special Criminal Court.

 The particulars of the offence on the five-count charge revealed that the accused persons, on the 1st of September 2008,  around  Methodist Academy in Kanifing,  allegedly robbed one Yassin Nyang, with actual violence, by stealing a bag containing D18,000 from her .

It is stated in count two that Babou Jobe and Modou Lamin Ceesay, on the said date and month in Old Jeshwang, allegedly stole various items including suitcases, cheque books and a bag containing D18, 000 belonging to Tunde Akintade and Yassin Nyang. Count three revealed that Babou Jobe and Modou Lamin Ceesay on the 1st of September 2008, at Methodist Academy in Kanifing, allegedly assaulted Yassin Nyang.

The fourth count stated that Babou Jobe, Modou Lamin Ceesay and Saikou Darboe on the said date and month allegedly conspired to rob Tunde Akintade  at Jeshwang. The fifth count stated that the 1st and 2nd accused on the 1st of September 2008 at Old Jeshwang, falsely represented themselves as personnel of the National Drug Enforcement Agency and searched the house of Tunde Akintade. The case was adjourned to the 23rd of March 2010 for the accused persons to make their plea.
