Steve Biko eye first Samger win

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, May 06, 2009
Steve Biko will face a determined Samger side today as they attemp to snatch their first win against the academy boys in the week seventeen fixtures of the Gambia Football Association First Division League.

Biko, who salvaged a goalless draw against Real de Banjul in the weekend sixteen fixtue in the weekend, have never beaten Samger in their last eight meetings, though the Bakau side will be ready to shatter all predictions today when the two sides meet at the Father Gough Sports Complex.

A 1-0 win over struggling Africell on Saturday propelled Samger to second position in the rankings with 24 points, seven points adrift of leaders Armed Forces and both sides have a game in hand. In another week seventeen fixture today, Wallidan will take on arch rivals Hawks at the Independence Stadium, Bakau, while  Brikama United  host Gamtel whose title dream was threatened after a  0-1 defeat to pace-setters Armed Forces on Sunday.

Serrekunda East mini-stadium will host a typical Bakau derby tie as Africell lock horns with Bakau United in the day's final match. On Thursday, Armed Forces will be hoping to extend their seven-point lead when they square-up against Real de Banjul at the Independence Stadium, while Tallinding United take on Sea View at the Serrekunda East mini-stadium.
