Stratford College embarks on week-long activities

The Stratford College of Management -Gambia, on Thursday 10th September, 2009 started a week-long programme of activities, with lots of excitement and demonstration of talents such as:

Inter-house quiz, debate, cerographic, musical talent display, cultural display, award presentation and speeches. In his opening remarks shortly before the competitions began, the principal of the college, Festus U. Edet, called on the contestants to expose their talents, adding that it would go a long way to building their future. He said the competition would end on Tuesday 17th September with presentation of certificates at the college campus.

He revealed that there will be an inter-house debate on Friday 11th September and the topics would be: " Self reliance a solution to youths unemployment" and "Localisations of academic qualification - A blessing or curse".  "On Saturday 12th September there would be a cerographic competition, which will be followed by a cultural display competition on Monday 14th September," he concluded.   

The first day of the activities started with a quiz competition in the morning with eight participants from four houses; such as Green House, named after the president of the Republic, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya AJJ Jammeh; Yellow House , named after Dr. Ali Syde Raza; Blue House, named after Ousman Alieu Ndow and Red House, named after Ebrima Bun Sanneh.

The quiz focused on grammar, national and international affairs. At the first round, Red House emerged first with nine points, Yellow, second with eight points, Green and Blue with seven points each. In the second round, Yellow house took the lead with twelve points, followed by Green House with nine points, Blue House third with seven points and Red House with no points. At the end of the morning session, Yellow House had the highest points: twenty; Green House came second with sixteen points, Blue House third with fourteen points and Red House with the least point, nine.
