Supreme Court judge appointed chief justice of Nigeria

Justice Mariam Aloma Murkhtar, a judge at the Supreme Court of The Gambia has been appointed as the chief justice of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Justice Aloma Murkhtar has made history in Nigeria by being appointed as the first female chief justice of Nigeria.
This appointment attracted public expression of goodwill and praises across the length and breadth of Nigeria. Nigeria’s legal luminaries have described the development as the most popular appointment to the Office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria in recent years.
