africa » gambia
Wednesday, April 15, 2009
Swedish Division Two club, Solllentuna United, have announced the signing of Gambian defender Demba Sanyang from the Gambia Football Association First Division League side Steve Biko FC.

The 21-year-old defensive midfielder was until this season, an active player of the Finnish First Division League side KPV where he had one-year loan spell alongside his fellow Gambian Habib Kunta from Steve Biko. Sanyang was signed alongside another  Gambian Kabba Langley. Langley, a former Real de Banjul player was acquired from the Swedish Division One club, Valsta Syriac.

In reporting the deals on its official website, United said: "We have made clear with two new players who have been in training with us for some time. They are 21-year-old inner midfield Demba Sanyang and 23-year-old inner slopes Kabba Langley. Both players are originally from the Gambia but they become United players in slightly different ways". "Demba was last year a property of KPV in the Finnish Division One league while Kabba is from Valsta Syriac after having played in Bälinge IF in Division Three at the end of 2008."

"Demba Sanyang, a typical central defensive midfield, a physical player with good character and leadership skills." " The two players know each other well, and have a serious and very ambitious attitude and will contribute to United success in a fantastic way to come, we are convinced. They are important building blocks in the new United defense and we welcome both players to the club," Sanyang has told Observer Sports that he would make his United debut on April 18.
