Tendaba schools receive donation

Africa » Gambia
Monday, April 23, 2012

Run for Tendaba, a charitable organisation based in the United States of America recently donated uniforms to Tendaba Nursery and Lower Basic Schools, at a presentation ceremony held at the school ground in Lower River Region.

On presenting the uniforms, Musa Drammeh, the link coordinator in The Gambia, commended Professor Buba Misawa of Washington and Jefferson College, David White of Run for Tendaba and Western Pennsylvania Foundation for their contribution and support to the school.

Receiving the uniforms on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mamadi Nyabally, the headmaster of the school expressed delight and gratitude to the donors for their gesture, while describing the donation as timely. He noted that the donated items will be very useful to the students and thanked Musa Drammeh for contributing immensely to the welfare of his village.

For his part, Faye Jammeh also thanked the donors for the gesture, saying the uniforms have come at the right time; when most children go to school without good uniforms. “The gesture will go a long way towards the enhancement of quality education in The Gambia as enshrined in the country’s Vision 2020,” he concluded.
