Thai PM acknowledges President Jammeh’s message

Africa » Gambia
Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Yingluck Shinawatra, the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand has written to the Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh, acknowledging his condolence message following the flooding in various parts of Thailand late last year.

The message reads:

I have the honour, on behalf of the Government and people of the Kingdom of Thailand, to express my appreciation for Your Excellency’s kind message of condolences regarding the flooding in various parts of Thailand late last year.

Such expressions of sympathies and concern are appreciated and have provided much encouragement in helping us overcome the challenge that we faced. In this connection, I am pleased to inform Your Excellency that the flood situation has returned to normal and that Thailand is now focused on comprehensive rehabilitation and reconstruction in the post-disaster phase.

From this experience and those of other countries, I hope that the international community will continue to give due attention to enhancing disaster management cooperation and thereby help mitigate the impact of future disasters on our peoples. Accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.

Yingluck Shinawatra

Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand
