The final of the third edition of the Quranic Recitation Competition was held over the weekend.We wish to commend those who emerged victorious in the competition. We also applaud President Jammeh for not only initiating the competition, but also sustaining it.

The initiative of course is part of the bigger efforts of the leadership to personally contribute to the advancement of religion, particularly Islam in the country.Every Muslim is aware of the fact that the life of a Muslim revolves around the teachings of God Almighty, emanated through the Holy Quran and the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

These two happen to be the greatest source of knowledge, wisdom and enlightenment, for living a life that pleases God Almighty. Any human being who therefore creates avenues for people to learn and recite the Holy Quran is a true worshiper of Allah alone and only Allah can reward such a person for the marvelous initiative.

We hereto once gain reiterate our call on the winners of this third edition of the competition and all winners of the previous editions to utilize the victory in the competition towards the education and strengthening of the teachings of Islam, as envisaged by the initiator of the competition -President Jammeh.

We also extend a word of appreciation to the Islamic Council and the Judges who preside over the competition for their continued commitment and dedication to the principles of faith.The daily conduct of President Jammeh no doubt manifests that his prioritizing of religion as a state agenda is what is steering us through progress, peace and prosperity.

The ball lies in the court of us all as citizens and people of conscience and beliefs to complement his efforts in that respect and continue to be actors in strengthening the cause of religion in the country. Once again we say congratulations to the winners of the third edition of the competition.
