Theft at Yundum Police Station, Immigration officer arraigned

One Modou Manneh, an Immigration Officer, who was responsible for collecting revenue for the government of the Gambia at the Yundum Police Station, was yesterday, Monday, 29th December 2008, brought before the Brikama Magistrates court for stealing.

The case was presided over by Magistrate Pa Harry Jammeh. According to the charge sheet, Modou Manneh, between the months of February 2005 to December 2006 - at the said station stole the sum of D1,098,800.

The accused denied the allegation and requested that he be granted bail. The application was rejected after strenuous objection from the prosecution. The case was then adjourned to 6 January 2009.
