Monday, September 06, 2010
One Alieu Jawo was recently arraigned and charged with theft contrary to laws of The Gambia, before Magistrate Nkea of the Brikama Magistrates Court.

The particulars of  the offence revealed that the accused, on the 25th of August 2010 at Brikama, stole from the dwelling house of Hoja Fatou Jallow and Ensa Camara two mobile phones of Nokia brand and LG, valued at D1,300 and D2,500 respectively. He pleaded guilty and was convicted and sentenced to pay a fine of D1, 000, in default to serve four weeks imprisonment. The mobile phones were also returned to the owners. Sergeant 1260 Colley standing for the IGP informed the court that the convict is a first-time offender. The convict urged the court to temper justice with mercy.
